Evaluating the Probability of Violating Dissolved Oxygen Standard
Abstract
One of the main concerns in water quality control and regulation is the assurance of
compliance of the specified water quality standard. Due to the existence of various uncertainties
in a stochastic stream environment, such compliance cannot be guaranteed at all times.
This paper discussed and applies methods for evaluating the risk of violating the water
quality standard. The methodologies are applied to evaluate the risk of violating dissolved
oxygen standard using the Streeter-Phelps dissolved oxygen model.
