Ecosystem Studies in the Subalpine Coniferous Forests of Wyoming
Abstract
An overview is presented on recent ecosystem studies in
the Medicine Bow National Forest and Yellowstone National Park. Most of
the research has focused on lodgepole pine forests. Hydrology, leaf area
development, decomposition, nutrient dynamics, soil chemistry, landscape
ecology, and the effects of tree harvest, fire, and mountain pine
beetles have been emphasized.
