A Collocation Model of Two-Dimensional Unsaturated Flow
Abstract
This paper introduces a numerical scheme for solving the equation governing
two-dimensional flow in a variably saturated porous medium.
The scheme uses a mass-conserving time-stepping method together with
a computationally efficient collocation formulation of the spatial derivatives.
A Newton-like iteration gives a temporally stable implicit scheme.
The paper examines a sample problem involving subsurface irrigation
in the unsaturated zone.
